Hugh Evan Robert James Jenkins loved sports. Baseball, hockey, pool, and his favourites, golf and hockey, were passions that burned brightly inside the man many fondly referred to as ‘Jenky’. It was his leadership and demeanor that helped Mr. Jenkins and his Huntsville rink of Charlie Black burn, Bernard Reynolds and John Payne make it to the finals of the 1962 Northern Ontario Brier. Though they didn’t win the championship, the feat by the young rink became legendary in Muskoka curling circles. His foursome ‘bucked’ all the traditions of the sport at the time, challenging the tradition of ‘waiting for your turn’ with the older skips and curlers in the community.
