George Hoo began his Huntsville High School career in 1990. Shortly after arriving in Huntsville, George, along with three others, Carl Nelson, Clyde Johnson and Craig Teakle, began the Huntsville Hurricanes basketball organization and George held the position of President for the next 16 years. During his Huntsville basketball career with both the Hoyas and the Hurricanes George coached over 50 teams. During this period he won the girls’ Double A OFSAA provincial championships and coached five senior boys’ teams and four senior girls’ teams to teh OFSAA championships. One of coach Hoo’s highlights was when the Huntsville Hoyas were chosen to represent Ontario at the Reebok invitational in February 2000 in Saskatchewan. The Hoyas ended up as silver medalists, losing only to British Columbia. George Hoo coached 13 Georgian Bay champions, a 1990 OBA division 2 championship and an eight place finish in Ontario basketball with his 1998 midget team.
