Jim Bishop arrived on the Huntsville sporting scene in the mid 1950s as a recreational director for the Town of Huntsville. He immediately set out in a very short period of time to create a minor lacrosse organization that dominated the sport of lacrosse in the Province of Ontario. The Huntsville Green Gaels proceeded to win, or were in Provincial finals, a record 18 times. One group of players led by Don Stinson, and Jim Higgs won a consecutive 5 Ontario À Championships. While still coaching in Huntsville Jim moved to Oshawa in the early 1960s where he established the legendary Oshawa Green Gaels. The Gaels were dominated by Huntsville players as they won a consecutive 7 Canadian Minto Cup Championships, emblematic of Junior A supremacy. After his junior success Jim. Moved into the Professional ranks coaching and managing in Detroit and Montreal. His coaching tenure in Detroit led to a position as a General Manager of the Detroit Red Wings. Jim is still coaching in Whitby, Ontario, back where he started, with the children.
