John started teaching at Huntsville high school in 1992, and since that time has pretty much been engaged in any and all sports going on at the high school and community levels. John was one of the instrumental people in getting truckloads of snow dumped on the Main Street to provide a great European cross country ski experience for the 2012 OFSAA Nordic Ski Championships. He has been involved in developing soccer and cross country skiing in Huntsville at both community and high school levels, and his efforts have won many honours for the athletes involved, producing and developing both National and Olympic caliber athletes in cross country skiing. In 2011 the team won eight out 10 OFSAA championship banners, the most ever won by any school. John holds multiple national and provincial certifications and has held executive positions, on various boards and committees. He was recently honoured for Ethics in Sport, with the Community Champion for True Sport award. John was also the driving force behind the University of Waterloo’s establishment of its site here at the Summit Centre.
