Shirley Markle was born in Huntsville and spent all her life there.
She was the mother of 3 children, Larry, Shelley & Tracy and she committed a lot of her time to the sports they were involved in.
She was well known for her dedication in both Lacrosse & Figure Skating and spent many hours at the arena making sure both were running smoothly.
She started with Lacrosse in 1969 and after years on the executive she became president of the Minor Lacrosse Club from 1976 – 1979. During those years she never missed a game or tournament and followed every game her children played in.
She then moved to Huntsville Junior B Lacrosse and was Secretary from 1980 – 1982 and eventually becoming President, once again never missing a game or road trip.
She was always at the arena, You could always hear her cheering ” Go Hawks Go” and was a well know friendly face to everyone
Shirley was also involved with the Huntsville Figure Skating Club for over 15 years starting in 1972 and eventually becoming President
Always at the rink, Shirley dedicated so many weekends getting involved in competitions and the end of the year Skating Carnival (which was always amazing )
Both were something she truly enjoyed doing along with working full time for the Town of Huntsville and raising 3 children.
She was an amazing person who was taken away too soon.
