The Mike Greae Award was implemented in 2015 to honour the memory of the founder of the Huntsville Sports Hall of Fame. Mike was himself and athlete in his early days. An entrepreneur and Member of Town Council he contributed weekly to The Huntsville Forester, writing many memorable columns regaling his memories of sports and interesting stories within the community. Additionally Mike served on many executive boards for various sporting groups in town and was a charter member of the SportRec Foundation, an organization that provided funding support to many sports organizations over the years.
In 1990 Mike gathered together several like minded people to create the Hall of Fame. To Mike it was extremely important to recognize and honour our sporting heroes and legends within the community.
