After moving toe Huntsville in the 1960s, Peter Jacob became instrumental in developing and sustaining recreation in all its forms. By profession he was a Phys Ed teacher but he didn’t stop there. Peter became Parks and Rec Director and served his community in that capacity while teaching at Huntsville High School.
He sat on many planning committees that saw improvement to the Town’s facilities and programs. During the expansion of the original arena Peter spearheaded the group that brought us the second ice surface, the pool and the Active Living Centre.
Among his many responsibilities Peter was a founding director of SportRec and sat as a member of the selection committee for the Hall of Fame.
In recognition of his works and his commitment to our town there is a room in the Summit Centre named in his honour and Peter was named to Huntsville Sports Hall of Fame in the Builder category in 2013
