Dr. Bob Litchfield is the Medical Director of the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic and Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Western University in London, Ontario. Though based in London, Huntsville remains his true home.

A proud graduate of Huntsville High School (Class of 1980), Bob was a multi-sport athlete, competing in basketball, soccer, alpine skiing, and fastball, including a stint with the Huntsville Merchants Senior team. Although he loved sport his real strength was in the classroom. His passion for sport and medicine was sparked early, inspired by a presentation from renowned sport physician Dr. Derek Mackesy at the HHS Athletic Awards Banquet.

Dr. Litchfield earned both his medical and orthopaedic surgery degrees at Western University. He completed his fellowship training under two of the most respected names in sports medicine—Dr. Peter Fowler at Western and Dr. Richard Hawkins in Vail, Colorado.

Widely recognized for his expertise in sport-related knee and shoulder conditions, Dr. Litchfield has cared for Olympic, collegiate, and professional athletes across a range of disciplines. He serves as a consultant to the National Hockey League Players Association and has been the orthopaedic surgeon for dozens of Canadian Alpine Ski Team members. He was a proud member of the Canadian medical team at both the Vancouver and Sochi Olympic Games.

In 2009, Dr. Litchfield was part of the research team at Fowler Kennedy that received the Canadian Institutes of Health Research’s Top Achievement in Health Research Award for groundbreaking work on the surgical management of knee arthritis. He currently serves as President-Elect of the Canadian Orthopaedic Association.

Away from the clinic, Dr. Litchfield enjoys playing tennis, skiing, golfing, and spending time on the water at his cottage on Peninsula Lake. Whenever possible, he returns to Huntsville to see patients and perform surgery at the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital.
