For over 25 years Andy Cooke has held just about every position in minor and junior hockey in Huntsville. Currently he is the regional executive director and sits on the board of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association. In the late 80s and 90s he co-chaired the Huntsville winter carnival and was instrumental in having the pond used as an outdoor facility for the public. Cooke worked very hard in the Junior C lacrosse program beginning in 1986, serving as the team manager and looking after scoring and timekeeping duties over the next 20 years. From 2003 to 2006 he served as OMHA center contact for the Triple A North Central Predators. When the Erie Otters bought the Wildcats, Andy was front-and-center working with management to create a tie between minor hockey and Junior A hockey in Huntsville. When the Jr. A team was purchased again a few years later, he worked as co-G.M. and was instrumental in bringing the Central Canadian Jr. A Championship (Dudley Hewitt Tournament) to Huntsville. When the Junior A franchise was contracted by the OJHL, Huntsville was once again without a Junior A team, Cooke put together a team of people to keep junior hockey alive. He now focuses most of his time on his duties with the OMHA.
