In 1977 as an 11-year-old, Andy Mattice was enrolled by his parents into the Blair McCann ski school. And there began Andy’s string of Ontario and Canadian water-skiing championships. In 1979, Andy Mattice won his first Ontario waterskiing championship, a feat he repeated in 1980 and 1983 and 1984 for a total of four times! On the national scene, Andy Mattice won his first Canadian waterskiing championship in 1980, a feat he repeated in 1984.At the 1981 Canada Summer Games, Andy was the water-skiing gold medalist and repeated again at the 1983 Canada Summer Games. In 1985, Andy was selected as the province of Ontario fl ag bearer in the Saint John, New Brunswick Canada Summer Games’ where he won his third gold medal as waterskiing champion. Andy Mattice has also been well regarded locally as an outstanding junior hockey player, winning a national championship as a member of the 1984-85 Junior A Orillia Travelways winning the Centennial Cup. In 1985-86 Andy returned to the Centennial Cup with the Orillia Travelways, finishing as silver medalists. Recently Andy joined the Huntsville minor hockey coaching ranks winning his first provincial championship with the Huntsville Atom AE Otters.
