“Huntsville hockey players were better skaters than their competitors”, according to Aub Percival’s son David. And this would be due, in large part, because every Huntsville hockey player took power skating instruction every Saturday morning during the hockey season in the power skating school started by Aub Percival and Marilyn Leigh (Huntsville Sports Hall of Fame 1990). The school operated for about 20 years. He was also a player/coach of Huntsville adult hockey teams taking the 1963 Intermediate team to an Ontario Championship and was a player/coach of local fastball teams for about 10 years during the 1950-60s. As well, he coached Town League Minor Hockey for about 10 years and Minor Fastball for about five years. As an indicator of the esteem in which he was held by Huntsville Minor Hockey they named the annual midget hockey tournament The Aub Percival Midget Classic Tournament.
