Bill moved to Huntsville in 1973 from Paris Ontario, where he had previously managed and coached multiple minor hockey teams over the years. In 1977 Bill joined the Huntsville Huskies Junior C team as an assistant coach and a member of the board of directors.
In 1984 Bill assumed the role of general manager of the team. In the 1986-87 season he managed the team to the Georgian Bay Championship and a place in the All Ontario playoffs, where the team lost to Bradford in a thrilling 7 game series in the quarter finals.
Bill retired from the manager role in 1992. In 1997 Bill was part of a group that brought the Huntsville Wildcats (later Otters) Tier 2 Junior A franchise to town. He served on the board of directors for the first 3 years of the teams existence. Then in the early 2000’s, now in his 70’s Bill came out of retirement and served as an assistant coach in minor hockey for several years, travelling the roads of Ontario once again to hockey tournaments and away games, and influencing yet another generation of local players.
