Don Stinson

In 2013 Don Stinson was inducted into the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame. From his earliest days as a novice lacrosse player, Don Stinson was a champion. Beginning in 1957 as an Ontario novice A champion and finishing in 1970 as a member of the seven-time Canadian Minto Cup Jr. A champion Oshawa Green Gaels, Don racked up an incredible 13 consecutive years as an Ontario champion and seven consecutive years as a Canadian champion lacrosse player. Known as a tough, defensive minded player, Don was also known for his dominance in the face off circle and could contribute offensively when necessary. In his rookie year in Jr. A lacrosse as a 14 year old, Don Stinson scored 31 goals in regular season play and was the second leading scorer for the Oshawa Green Gaels in their quest for their first of seven consecutive Canadian championship Minto Cups. After his playing days, Don took up the coaching ranks and was just as successful, winning provincial and national minor lacrosse titles. Don Stinson was also highly regarded in local hockey circles as an Ontario champion goalie in minor and Jr. C hockey. Don was also considered one of the top Ontario Hockey Association referees in central Ontario.
