Gary was born into golf, in the clubhouse at Huntsville Downs where his father was green keeper and his mother ran the club. “my father worked on the course construction at Royal York then moved to Huntsville where Stanley Thompson also built the Downs”.

A professional since 1966 (former Captain of the CPGA), Gary has worked in Canada, US, Bahamas, Jamaica and Greece. Once head pro at Bayview CC, Gary has since favoured the resort business. He has played golf in over 30 countries (2nd in Danish Open, CPGA Championship and PEI Open-20 years apart), worked with many Fortune 500 companies running schools and corporate events. Gary is very experienced in tournament operations from a members event to a PGA Tour event. He loves old courses and classic designers like Stanley Thompson, dislikes golf gurus, and is married a long time to his wife Carolyn.

In his golfing career Gary played in 5 Canadian Opens, placed in the following: 2nd in Canadian PGA Championship, 2nd Danish Open, 10th Italian Open, Won several Pro Ams, 2nd in PEI Open 1969 and 1989, won Cavotti ProAm with course record 65, Bay of Quinte Pro Am 66, TPC Scottsdale 61
