Gus Liadis started playing lacrosse at 10 and has been playing and coaching for over 50 years.
Gus has had the honour of playing with the world’s greatest lacrosse players and minds. He has won at the highest levels of lacrosse in Canada (Mann Cup and Minto Cup rings) and was inducted into the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2019 as a member of the Whitby Warriors, a team considered to be one of the best in history.
Gus’s greatest accomplishments with the Huntsville Hawks include a Canadian championship in 1980 with the Midget Hawks and a Bronze medal in the Junior B Founders Cup.
Gus’s list of personal accomplishments includes a Junior B Rookie of the Year Award and Scoring Champion (twice), including numerous league and team MVP awards. He is in the Junior Record books for 18 assists in one game.
As a player, Gus was unselfish, humble, and a quiet leader who always made players around him better.
Gus’s greatest personal accomplishment was starting field lacrosse programs in both Huntsville and Bracebridge that continue to thrive today.
Gus continues to give back to the lacrosse community by coaching his two sons and serving on the executive board.
