Henry Tebby was a well-known face about town, not just because of his position as the Towns Post Master, but for his countless hours as a devoted Volunteer.
He was active in the Community as a Member of the United Church where he taught Sunday School, a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge, the Rotary Club, and also sat on the Public School Board of Education. He volunteered as a Baseball Coach, but insisted on not Coaching his own Children.
Henry was often approached to Lead Charity campaigns, where he would organize teams of Volunteers to Canvas the entire Town leading to many successful campaigns for the Cancer Society, and the Heart and Stroke Society just to name a couple.
He became involved with the Huntsville Figure Skating Club where he played a vital role in nourishing the growth of the Club with Financial Security as well as Club enrollment which rose to 250 members.
This journey began in the early 70’s when the Father of 4 found himself, along with his Wife Jean, spending countless hours watching their Children at the local arena playing hockey and Figure skating.
With 3 children involved in Competitive Figure Skating, he wanted to become more involved with the Club and understand the intricacies of the Sport.
Henry was always a numbers Man and found Accounting at these Competitions to be his niche.
In 1975 he passed the Accounting exam and Volunteered at countless competitions – everything from Club Competitions, Interclub, Sectionals, Divisionals, Canadian Invitational, Ontario Winter Games, Junior Worlds, and Skate Canada – keeping track of Judges scoring at the most elite levels of Competition. He encouraged many people to become Accountants and gave Clinics all over the Region.
