Jim Lumby quietly lent his support to the community without much fanfare. He came to Huntsville as stationmaster of the local train station and it was not long before he was up to his elbows in local sports, most notably curling and hockey. In the words of another hall of famer, Don Lough, “Jim Lumby was like our general manager, once we got the project going, he made sure it got done.” Lumby’s greatest accomplishment was the creation of one of our greatest recreational and sporting assets, that being Arrowhead Provincial Park. It was Jim Lumby who had the vision and the tenacity to see it through to creation. This fact is attested to by the naming of “The Lumby Trail” in Arrowhead Provincial Park.
