Jocelyn Knox, the daughter of lacrosse legend Jack Bionda and his wife Joanne, is a lifelong Huntsville resident and Doctor of Chiropractic who has dedicated over 20 years of volunteer leadership to the Huntsville District Minor Lacrosse Association (HDMLA). While her personal athletic pursuits varied, her true lacrosse education was forged at the family dinner table and on the sidelines of her brothers’ practices and games. This deep-rooted passion eventually led her to become a central pillar of the Huntsville sports community.
In 1997 Jocelyn started with the HDMLA and by 1999 she was fully immersed in the HDMLA executive. She spearheaded the “Be a Hawk” campaign by leveraging local media and school handouts to get lacrosse reintroduced in all the public schools. A new generation of Hawks emerged and registrations climbed. In years to follow, she was also one of the lead Executives of the Huntsville Junior and Senior Hawks.
Jocelyn’s impact extended far beyond administration. She obtained Level 1 & 2 coaching certifications for both Box and Field and recirculated the Hawk’s Field Lacrosse branch in 2009/10, growing it from two teams in the first year to six teams in the second. Passionate about empowering girls in sport, she secured funding from the Kirk Evans Foundation to create an ongoing skills clinic and after school programs, ensuring that girls had a fun introduction to the game and path to high school and university field lacrosse opportunities.
Provincially, Jocelyn served as the OMFLL scheduler for the Eastern Ontario Division for multiple years and even won a gold medal while serving as trainer for the 2014 Team Ontario Bantam champions in British Columbia. Continuing her passion, later this year she will be the General Manager for the U15 Team Ontario Girls at various 2026 international tournaments.
Rooted in family legacy, driven by community pride and defined by decades of service, Jocelyn is deeply honoured to join her father and the many dedicated Huntsville Hall of Fame Inductees.
