During the 1950’s and 60’s and early 70’s, Huntsville was a dominant force in the Province of Ontario with it’s hockey and lacrosse teams. During this period, virtually every year. Although the names of the players changed from year to year, there was one constant person behind the scenes, Mr. Laverne Reynolds.
Known for his unfailing good humour and enthusiasm, Laverne Reynolds showed his true value to the town’s athletes not in times of victory, but during particularly tough defeat. Aside from his activities as a manager of hockey and lacrosse teams, Laverne also contributed greatly on the Town of Huntsville’s Parks and Recreation Committee and the Ontario Minor Hockey Board of Directors. There was a lot more to Laverne Reynolds than simply being the man in the penalty box with his clipboard.
