I have always been sports fanatic. As long as I can remember I have dreamed of being an athlete. While my disability limited my abilities, I never stopped believing I could play sports. It all started with T-ball.
My Mom reached out to the local softball league to ask if they would allow me to play if she assisted me on the field. There was no hesitation and so my journey as an athlete began.
Next up was sledge hockey. I started with lessons in Gravenhurst with Paralympian Graeme Murray. I had the privilege to learn the basics from a player who has played on the international stage. I was hooked. I soon joined the Elmvale Bears junior sledge hockey team where I once again had the opportunity to learn from Canadian National team members and Paralympians, Adam Dixon and Brad Bowden. My teammates and coaches were a great bunch, and taught me so much about perseverance.
After taking a break from sports, I was approached by John Cowan in the fall of 2021 to try Para Nordic skiing. What a ride it was! From training both locally and in Canmore, Alberta to endless hours of road ski training here at home to competing at the Ontario Winter games and then the Canada Winter games in PEI, winning 3 silver medals. It was period of my life I will never forget. I am so thankful to have met incredible athletes and their families and all my coaches along the way.
