Peter Jacob

Peter Jacob arrived in Huntsville serving as the head of the physical education department for 16 years. During that time, Jacob coached almost every team or individual sport offered at the interschool competition level. Peter Jacob served as a volunteer member of the parks and recreation department fo four years, followed by 12 more years as a recreational consultant to the town of Huntsville. His fondest achievement was the creation of “recognition night”. In 1980, along with Tom Pinckard and Jim Alexander, Peter commissioned and paid for a swimming pool feasibility study. This study served as a catalyst to where and when the pool could be built. This was just the beginning of many planning documents regarding the recreational needs of Huntsville authored by Peter Jacob. Amongst them were the official master plan for parks and recreation’s second ice surface; the McCulley-Robertson fields; the Active Living Centre and Conroy Park.
