What are the requirements to be inducted?

Individuals must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for membership in the Hall of Fame. Nominations will be accepted by the committee who will then determine whether the nomination meets the selection criteria. To be inducted into the Hall of Fame candidates must have demonstrated an extraordinary impact on or in the community or have achieved recognized success at the provincial, national or international level or as a professional athlete, coach, manager or builder.

Teams must have demonstrated an extraordinary impact in their sport or have achieved recognized success at the provincial, national or international level. Recognized success over multiple years or a record breaking season is generally required for a team to be inducted.

Effective 2023 any individual or team may only be inducted as a member into the Huntsville Sports Hall of Fame in one category. An individual or team already inducted as a member may receive a second nomination in a different category, however such nominations will be deferred in favour of any individual or team nominated for the first time. Should an individual or team receive nominations in multiple categories prior to being inducted, then he/she/they may be inducted into the Huntsville Sports Hall of Fame for the category deemed to have the greatest impact on the sport or community. Such determination will be made at the sole discretion of the committee and any such decision is final. Should an individual or team disagree with the award category then the award may be declined prior to the awards being publicly announced. Their nomination will be returned to the pool of all nominations for future consideration.
